"I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T Do you know what that mean?"

After talking to my mom on the phone right after I finished putting my new bed together, she says, "Great, now you're never gonna get married if you keep doing these thing by yourself." It's true though. Who needs a guy when the only time I really ever wish they were around is to kill spiders? But lets rewind...

Last night I went to pick up a free bed from my coworkers friend. I've been sleeping on a twin-sized mattress on the floor for the past 3 years, so anything is better than that. My two friends (that are girls) and I moved it upstairs to my apartment (again, who needs men?). I spent a good 2 hours putting it together today. It's a simple bed from Ikea, which normally are pretty easy to put together, but whoever put it together before had pieces backwards, upside down, and half stained the frame. There was missing bolts, screws and those wooden peg things. Thank god for the tools my Dad left me when he moved--I would have been screwed without them! Luckily there was an allen wrench in the tool box so I was able to unscrew/re-screw most of the parts, but it still wasn't as stable as I thought it should be. So Miss Independent busted out the Black&Decker Swivel Drill/Driver that he also left for me, found the right sized drill bits and put extra screws to support and tighten the bed frame (that's what she said). I put the box spring and mattress on and just like that I finally have an actual bed--off the floor--that is not child-sized!!

**raises glass** Cheers to being Independent :)

  1. Nice job Eva. You were always crafty and mechanically inclined and I'm glad you're putting the tools to good use. Gotta love that Black and Decker Swivel Drill/Driver.
